Elegant Wedding Website

WeddingWindow.com Website Design: “Serendipity”

1. How has your website been most helpful?
Our site has become THE centralized hub for all communication and organization throughout our engagement. Our website’s address became a permanent fixture on all of our communication with our wedding fans, and it is uniquely the first joint project my bride and I were able to work on together!

2. How did you customize your website?
My fiancee and I took full advantage of Wedding Window’s customization abilities by choosing our own unique color scheme, as well as adding our own photos and banner images. The landing page and music customization was also a great way to create a spectacular “first impression” of our site and wedding festivities.

3. What was your favorite wedding website feature?
From an organizational standpoint, the RSVP feature was not only environmentally-friendly, but also economical and efficient for both the bride and groom, as well as for our attendees. We were able to save heaps of hours keeping our large invite list (500+ people) organized, as well as provide an interactive outlet for our attendees to post on our message board for all to see!

5. What did you do that you feel made your wedding uniquely your own?
My bride and I went out of our way to make our whole engagement and wedding as interactive and community-oriented as possible. We love our friends and family, and Wedding Window, Twitter, our blogs, and events leading up to our actual wedding ceremony.

6 Tips for the Tech-Savvy Modern Bride

Using Technology to Your Advantage Aides with Wedding Preparation

In a world where brides have easy access to technology, there are many brides who do not utilize tech resources to help ease the wedding preparations. Many Brides still choose to use the traditional 3-Ring Binder for their wedding preparations. However, in today’s technological advances, many brides and grooms are able to plan their entire wedding using the benefits of the Internet and other technological advances. Using wedding websites to keep track of guest lists, table setting charts and RSVP’s is all the rage for the modern bride.

1) Record the preparations of the dressing process at the Bridal Salon with a video camera. It seems that many details of dressing the bride seem to be forgotten, once the bridal gown leaves the bridal salon. Details such as creating the perfect bow-tie, buttoning the grown, or instructions for steaming your wedding gown are a distant memory when your wedding day approaches. To help with all the little details try to videotape these tips and tricks from the bridal salon during your fittings.

2) Record a video of the dance lessons for the bride and groom’s 1st dance!
On the same idea of keeping a virtual memory of the bridal gown instructions, record your dance lessons to refer back to. Dancing can be very complicated to learn. And it can be even more difficult to train a dancer who has already learned the incorrect dance steps. By recording the dance lessons, the bride and groom can refer back to the videotape when practicing at home.

3) Use Internet resources like “Google Documents” to keep organized. Info such as guest lists or wedding budgets are easy to manage in a safe online account. This is so that both the bride and groom can have access to them at any time.

4) Read wedding blogs and forums. These resources are always a great help to any bride. Wedding blogs and forums where brides can ask other brides questions and opinions on wedding planning is a great help. Brides will be able to ask specific planning questions and get DIY project ideas from other weddings, etc.

5) Create a custom wedding email. Creating a custom email specifically for the wedding is a great trick. This will help separate work and personal from wedding specific emails. Plus when brides are attending all the must-see bridal shows, brides can give away this custom email, instead of their personal email. This will insure a safe and spam-free personal email for the bride.

6) Create a custom website to stay organized and keep your guests informed. Creating a wedding website from a site such as www.weddingwindow.com can completely help brides during the entire wedding process. Brides will be able to tell the couple’s story, give important new updates and event details to all of the guests. And of course, guests will be able to RSVP online, making it even easier to confirm they’re attending, so the bride doesn’t have to wait by the mailbox all day long.

These are only 6 ideas on how technical advances will help the modern bride. If you have any more ideas, please share them with us!

Getting Organized!

Wedding Planning Made Easy

After you get your ring insured and decide on a date, get something to organize yourself. I bought a wedding planning book and signed up for a Wedding Window website.

Wedding Planning Book

The book, Easy Wedding Planner Organizer and Keepsake, is great! I bought so many wedding magazines in the first few engagement months and would tear out pictures of dresses, flowers and centerpieces which I would stick in the folders of the book. It is a binder as well so I can add receipts and copies of checks. It also has a place for business cards. You’d be surprised how many people “dabble” in things and want your wedding to be their starting off point!

Wedding Organization with the Help of a Wedding Website

In addition to buying a wedding organizer book, I signed up for a wedding website on WeddingWindow.com. A mutual friend used the site for her wedding and I thought it was great to have a customized website that I could design myself without having to actually build the entire thing. Since then, I have used my Wedding Window site for almost everything! The best parts of the website are the planning tools.

My favorite tool, in particular, is the checklist. I love lists because I feel I have accomplished something whenever I put that little check by the completed item. At first glance, the list may look a little overwhelming because it has a lot of items. However, this initial list is a very helpful starting point and you can then customize the list by taking things off or adding them on to fit your personal needs. I have to admit that seeing the red font when something is overdue can be daunting, but if need be … I simply change the due date! A lot more goes into a wedding than I originally expected. The planning tools that I have access to from my Wedding Window website have really helped me to keep track of all of the unexpected ideas and plans.

Now, you may not like lists. In fact, I know people who avoid lists all together. The truth of the matter is if you’re not organized, your wedding is going to become more stressful as the day approaches. Please take note that I said organized, not controlling. Hopefully, you’ll decide on your organizer pretty quickly because you know your own style and you know what will work best for you. If by chance, you know you can’t organize your closet let alone your own wedding … you may want to think about hiring a wedding coordinator!

Trash The Dress … I Love this Idea!

Trash the Dress

Artsy and Fun Photography Created from Trashing the Dress

What a great idea! Who wouldn’t want to do it? Get it wet. Get it dirty. Just trash it!

When it comes to trashing your dress –there are many options. I think it is a great experience to have with your new husband and photographer after the wedding — just have fun and spend that time together as husband and wife. It’s a great way to create fun moments that you may not have had the chance for at the wedding. It makes for some great, fun photography to add to your wedding album. Some couples do it the day after the wedding, some wait until after the honeymoon, or even their one year anniversary.

You can get as dirty and creative as you want.

A lot of the TTD (trash the dress) sessions I’ve seen have been in water. Some people may not want to get this dirty, but the couple below got colorful with paint … it makes for some artsy wedding photography which I love!

I cannot wait to see what our photographer comes up with for our session. She is so creative — I’m thinking of doing ours at the local NFL stadium if we can get access. My fiance and I love football and I think it would make some great photography.

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Pink?!

I recently heard about the wedding of a couple who’s lives were tragically touched by breast cancer. The bride, her mother and grandmother were all personally affected by the disease. October is breast cancer awareness month. In doing research for this blog, I was amazed at the amount of breast cancer awareness related articles, favors and ideas that brides were incorporating into their weddings. This concept is something relatively new to the wedding industry and I’m excited to share my findings with you!

A Pink Wedding Dress?

The Dress. The Shoes. The Accessories. The Jewelry. Make a bold statement by purchasing a pink wedding dress. Designers such as Alfred Angelo, Amsale, Anjolique, Anne Barge, Atelier Aimee, Badgley Mischka Bride, Carolina Herrera, Christos, Claire Pettibone, David’s Bridal, Eve of Milady, Kenneth Pool, Mon Cheri Bridals, Monique Lhuillier, Mori Lee, Romona Keveza, Reem Acra, Sophia Tolli, Vera Wang, Vineyard Collection and Watters Brides all participate in the “Something Pink Campaign” by designing pink wedding dresses in support of finding a cure. The “Something Pink Campaign” is a a national awareness campaign in support of the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation, an organization founded to grant wishes to women with metastatic breast cancer and their families.

In lieu of traditional wedding favors, set aside a monetary donation to the Susan G. Komen foundation, which is an organization supporting breast cancer research. For more information, check out their website.

There are so many great color combinations involving different shades of pink. Here are some great inspiration boards involving the color.
