Ideas for a Creative Wedding Reception Candy Buffet
Who doesn’t LOVE a good buffet? I’m not talking about beef tips and chicken … I’m talking about the sugary goodness that is candy! Candy buffets have hit the wedding industry with a surge comparable to a bull in a china shop: they are popping up all over. Gone are the days of Jordan almonds or Hershey’s kisses in organza bags. These days, brides are getting creative in providing guests with thank you favors.

Websites such as Candy Warehouse, A Candy Store and Metro Candy & Nuts sell candy in bulk at discount prices. Other wholesale stores such as Costco and Sam’s Club carry sugary sweets, chocolate and nuts as well. If your wedding is during the fall season, be sure to check out the Halloween candy sales! Start early by collecting glass containers and scoops. Don’t be afraid to buy different sizes and heights. This will provide depth to the display and make it pleasing to the eye. Stick with one color palette or have a variety of different goodies. Anything goes!

A fun new twist on the traditional “candy” buffet is a fall themed caramel apple table. Make them at home before the wedding or have an itemized setup where guests can make their own fresh hot piping caramel apple! Provide wooden sticks, caramel and a variety of toppings such as different types of nuts, crushed cookie bits, sprinkles and candies. It would be perfectly acceptable to include fresh hot apple cider as well

Another cold weather favorite is a hot chocolate bar. Indulge your guests by providing several varieties of flavored hot chocolate and marshmallows. If you want to provide alcohol, Baileys Irish Cream and Baileys Caramel compliment hot chocolate beautifully. Garnish drinks by providing candy canes dipped in chocolate!

I don’t think I have ever come across a cookie I didn’t like. How about a cookie buffet? Provide your guests with several varieties of cookies. Bake them yourself or have a baker make them for you. No one will know the difference
Another twist could be to include a stack of recipe cards detailing the directions for grandma’s famous chocolate chip cookies or Aunt Linda’s peanut butter cookies. The possibilities are endless!

There are many great options for packaging these sweet delights. Miniature Chinese take-out boxes, small bags or boxes are all practical options. Personalize them with a monogram stamp or sticker. Add splashes of color. Make them YOURS!
