While planning for the big day, many brides have the belief that couples must be married in a traditional sea of flowers consisting of beautiful blooms such as roses, lilies and peonies. While any bride would be lucky to get married in a ceremony filled with lovely flowers, not all brides are capable of doing this because of their wedding budget.
An Alternative to Wedding Flowers
Even though flowers are beautiful, think practically about what your budget allows for. Wedding flowers will only last 1 day, and even though flowers are lovely to have at a wedding, there are many ideas that don’t include flowers which brides and grooms can incorporate to provide a romantic atmosphere for their wedding and their guests.
If a lot of flowers cannot fit in your budget, consider searching for a wedding venue with a beautiful backdrop. Think of different and creative places to get married. For example, the classic beach wedding is always a beautiful setting. With a glorious ocean view for guests to look at, there isn’t a great need to go overboard with expensive flowers. At a beach themed wedding you could place sea shells on the ground covering the edge of the wedding aisle. Another idea for an evening beach ceremony, or any outdoor wedding, is to line the aisle with tiki torches or strings of lights instead of having flowers that are decorating the seats. This will provide low, intimate lighting … very romantic!
Other romantic, scenic places that couples might consider are a park, a rustic barn or even a botanical garden (flowers already included!). All of these places are very picturesque and wouldn’t need a lot of flowers and decoration for the wedding ceremony. These types or settings are often beautiful on their own. If you are a more traditional couple, and would like to be married in a church, search for a church with stained glass windows and great architecture details. All of these elements would contribute to a beautiful wedding that any couple would love to have!

I am so glad we think alike! My husband and I actually had my wedding at our city’s public gardens last Spring for this very reason. The flowers were in bloom and made for some very nice photos. We did splurge on some real flowers for my bouquet and a couple of the reception tables, though. However, rather than using a local florist, we ended up buying from a wholesaler (http://www.wholeblossoms.com) so our final cost on fresh flowers was less than $200. In the end, we spent significantly less than most other brides but still have our lovely photos to admire (with lots of beautiful flowers in full bloom).

I have heard numerous good things fiftyflowers.com off of a wedding website. Lots of brides use them and have been quite happy. I don’t think I’ve heard a single negative.
Another option (if you have one near you) is Sam’s Club. Maybe costco does it as well. You can order flowers at bulk rates and then pick them up. They will be ready for you whenever you specify.
Congratulation on your upcoming wedding!
Love the soft lighting used with the tent. The white color is perfect especially with the beautiful candlelight!
