Be Kind to Your Bridesmaids

Dear Bride,

I realize that every bride wants to get everything she wants for her wedding day, and so she should! However, now is the time to think of someone else …. and no, I’m not talking about the groom. It’s time to think about your beautiful bridesmaids, your fellow teammates in the wedding planning game. Your bridesmaids have and will be there for you in your time of bridal desperation and it’s time to thank them by allowing them to be happy and comfortable in their bridesmaid dresses.

In today’s bridal world, many brides are opting out of the pastel taffeta bridesmaid’s dress. The dress that every bride says her bridesmaids can wear again … if they get the dress shortened.  But that never happens (you all know what I’m talking about … don’t deny it).

Instead of having your bridesmaids buy dresses they won’t wear again, be kind and allow them to buy a dress that they will love and would be happy wearing again. I would suggest buying short length dresses in lightweight fabrics such as silk, organza and cotton.  I would stay away from fabrics such as satin and taffeta.

For my wedding (shown below), it was my opinion that bridesmaids shouldn’t be forced to buy the same bridesmaid dress and that they should love their dress so much they’d wear it again. I decided to have my bridesmaids wear short black dresses. All of my bridesmaids were able to pick out their own dress because, lets face it … not every girl looks good in the same dress. On the day of my wedding, all of my bridesmaids loved their dresses and the way they looked.  So did I.

Love the flower patterns and the similarity of dresses. I’d be thrilled to wear any of these dresses after the wedding!

I am a graphic designer who loves all things crafty. I am a girl who loves design, crafts and decorating! I currently spend all of my time either doing design work or playing with my little dog named Poly! Ever since I was a young girl I have always dreamed of my perfect wedding (as all girls do). In reality, weddings do not always come out exactly the way the bride wishes it to be. My goal is to share fun and cute wedding ideas that I used in my wedding or ideas that I wish I could have created for my wedding. I wish for all brides to have fun with their wedding planning and to be able to customize their wedding with all the little fun details that will make their wedding dreams come true. Happy Planning!!! Read More…
