Your Bridal Bouquet: Color or White Blooms?

Some brides think an all-white bouquet is the way to go, while other insist that colorful blooms are a must. Whichever style you favor, there are some pros and cons to consider when picking your bridal bouquet.

All-White Bouquets:
Pros: Subtle, Neutral, Traditional
Cons: May not “pop” off bridal gown in photos; Too much white can be a bad thing

Colorful Bouquets:
Pros: Bold, Contrasting, Modern
Cons: Too much contrast can detract from gown; May shock Grandma

And let’s not forget, you can always do a bouquet that is mostly color with touches of white, or mostly whites with touches of subtle color. The bridal bouquet is one of the most photographed floral pieces in the wedding, so make sure yours is perfectly you.

Here are some of my favorite designs for bridal bouquets … a little from each category.

And of course, I had to include my own bridal bouquets…
The left bouquet was my ceremony bouquet since my ceremony and reception were held 3 months apart. The flowers were an analogous color palette ranging from magenta to violet and included Phaleanopsis orchids, Vanda orchids, cymbidium orchids, lisianthus and mini callas. The right bouquet was my reception bouquet, which was more simple than the ceremony bouquet with just mini cymbidium orchids, Vanda orchids, lisianthus and mini callas.

All too white sure looks so dull and using other colored embellishment like ribbons and crystals, berries on the bouquet will add more details to it.

Great taste for colours, in your ideas for colour I’ve found the most beautiful bouquet’s… I just hope they’re not expensive to reproduce in the local florist shop where I’m planning to order it :D .. or that they have all the different types of orchids that you mentioned in your bouquet! :D

You can tell that you have a passion for flowers, Kristen. The all-color bouquets you highlighted are absolutely stunning, but I also really love the white bouquets with a hint of color… subtle, but gorgeous. Thanks.

Oh it has to be colour for me I think. A white bouquet and a pure white wedding theme sounds beautiful in theory, but when you see the pictures you have on here, the colour has that wow factor that white just doesn’t. I like the styles with colour and a bit of white too, they’re quite striking but the last bouquet pictures have something the others just don’t. And I think the entire wedding should be in gorgeous colours too! Mostly achievable… just need the dress designers to get on board now!! A great selection of bouquets. Claire x
