Topping It Off…With Cupcake Caps!

Domestic goddess I am not.  In fact, when it comes to decorating any kind of cake (cupcakes included) … I would rather subject myself to a root canal.  I’m quite sure it would be less painful!  So…when I read about Cupcake Caps in a recent blog post, I was overjoyed.  For those of you who are not familiar with Cupcake Caps, they are basically edible, decorative caps for your cupcakes!  They come in a wide variety of colors and designs, making them perfect for all kinds of special events (especially bridal showers and weddings).

According cupcakecaps.com, Cupcake Caps were dreamed up by Brooke Brooks, the single mom of elementary age twins. The story goes that “she needed to send party cupcakes with the kiddos that would survive the day (the cupcakes, that is) and arrive at the late afternoon party still looking fabulous. Knowing that buttercream decorated cupcakes would never survive, she pondered on what would be tasty, not-fragile and gorgeous.  Drawing on years of cooking experience, she came up with Cupcake Caps.”  Brilliant!

You will find compete instructions for applying your Cupcake Caps on the cupcakecaps.com website.  They even offer a YouTube video instructional on their website.  But from the looks of the below diagram … even I couldn’t mess it up!

Oh my god – those are great photos, I love them! I have no problem baking, it is the elaborate decorating that scares me.

I especially loved the first two photos. The top one is so pretty and delicate that it would be perfect for weddings, bridal showers, etc. but the one below (purple and yellow flowers) could also be used for those events, but it is lively enough to use for other parties, children parties and family occasions!

    Thanks for this post!

Wow…that is brilliant! Just the other day at Joann I also saw that Cricut had created these cake decoration templates…it cuts fondant to decorate the sides (and top, I’m assuming) of your cake.

I’ve seen these before – and they are awesome! So many styles. Great for weddings, showers, rehearsal dinners or just because!
