Moroccan Inspired Wedding from Calculated Style Photography

I’m all about weddings that break the mold and are a filled with custom-made details. When I saw Leah and Steve’s Moroccan inspired wedding, sent in by Calculated Style Photography, I was super excited to share it here on WedLoft!

Leah was an amazing DIY bride!  One of her diy projects for the wedding was her brooch bouquet.

Leah: I knew I wasn’t going to have flowers at my wedding and I was somewhat passively seeking alternatives when I saw a photo of a brooch bouquet for the first time in a bridal magazine. I loved the idea but some designers charged between $800 and $900, which was far beyond my budget. My maid of honor came to the rescue with the brilliant idea of suggesting brooches as a gift to my bridal shower guests.  This was the perfect solution to another issue I had been concerned about:  the exorbitant amount of money guests end up paying after the wedding, and all the events surrounding it, are said and done. She made up the invitations she simply asked that all my closest ladies bring along a brooch as their gift, along with a brief note describing a happy memory they had shared with me.

I would note that this is not a simple, nor a quick DIY project for brides. I had a lot of help from my parents and my (now) husband preparing the brooches to be constructed into a bouquet. My attempt to save people a little money backfired in a sense, as many people felt inclined to purchase multiple brooches in an effort to spend what they typically would on a shower gift. Unfortunately, that meant that I ended up with a number of brooches that I was unable to use. I made sure to use at least one from each person, but I did feel bad about the extras…

Now on to the reception where there are lots of DIY goodies! Leah and Steve set up a frame hanging from a tree branch as a DIY photo booth and check out that amazing Moroccan inspired cake!  That’s right … it was made by the bride!
