Do you know the difference between an escort card and a place card? I’ll admit … I always confuse the two. Here’s a quick refresher for everyone, including me. Escort cards are used to “escort” your guests to a particular table, as opposed to place cards, which assign your guests a particular seat at that table. Escort cards are typically placed just outside or inside the door (or area) leading to the reception.
I always think it’s a nice gesture to assign your guests to a specific table. Otherwise, chaos could ensue when it comes time to sit down for dinner. I’m sure you don’t want guests pulling additional chairs up to one table, while leaving an empty space at another table. Without direction … your guests are likely to do just that! Escort cards can also take the pressure off of guests that may not know any other guests at your wedding. The use of seating arrangement cards is a really simple way to make your guests feel like you took the time to consider where they would be seated.
