Annie & Greg’s site is our featured WeddingWindow.com wedding website of the week. You definitely get the feeling that this couple has a lot of fun together. The personal photos and rich color palette are very nicely coordinated. Annie and Greg have also done a wonderful job of providing their guests with plenty of planning resources and helpful links. Congratulations Annie and Greg!WeddingWindow.com Website Design: “Serendipity”

1. How has your website has been most helpful?
Our website has been extremely helpful in allowing us to provide our guests with information regarding the entire wedding weekend.  As about 95% of our guests are from out of town, it is important to me to be able to provide plenty of information regarding accomodations and of course directions to all of the wedding weekend events.  I also love the ability to provide information for local restaurants, things to do, and the weather feed is awesome!   We are planning an outdoor ceremony so I like that it prompts people to think about the weather.

2. How did you customize your website?
The templates provided are really great, and the color suggestions are already well matched in my opinion.  Therefore we really customized our site by using all of our own pictures.  We had some really interesting engagement pictures that we were able to upload to make the site look more customized than if we choose to use the stock photography.

3. Did you customize other elements of your wedding as well? If so, what were they?
I have been really determined to make this wedding “ours”.  While certain traditions are meaningful to me, many others just don’t seem necessary.  I didn’t want all of my bridesmaids who are already traveling from far away to be with me, to have to buy a specific bridesmaid dress, so I’ve asked them all just to wear anything they want.  Since it’s a Fall wedding, I just asked that they stick to “jewel tones” as far as the color.  I just want them to be comfortable – I really don’t like the tradition of the bridesmaids dress!

I also really customized the menu choosing a lot of items that are not typical for the Country Club (which is where we will have the reception)  I grew up in Saudi Arabia, and my parents now live in the Kentucky (which is where we are getting married).  So half of the food will be authentic Kentucky fare, and the other half is all Arab food.  They are even using some of my family favorite recipies to make the Arab food.

In addition, I work for a company that makes amazing layer and pound cakes that we ship all over the US.  So rather than having a traditional wedding cake, we will have an elaborate dessert display with various cake stands featuring all the amazing flavors of layer cakes that we make at VeryVera.  The dessert display will also feature baklava from my families favorite vendor to match the Arab theme.

We also customized other elements of the wedding through the various stationary elements: customized labels for the favor boxes, we had a wonderful calligrapher write our invitation from which Crane could then create the cast for engraving.  So it’s really a one of a kind invitation as opposed to using a font they already offered.

4. What was your favorite feature?

My favorite feature is the ability to upload multiple songs to the website.  I love music, and for me, it’s a really important way to conjure emotions and set the tone for the guests.  Much like the pictures we uploaded, it’s a great way to make the website about us.  We used all songs that are meaningful to both of us.   I think the website would be far less impactful if we did not have the ability to play music.
