Go Green…Literally!

Are you thinking about having an Eco Friendly wedding and you have a laundry list of all the compost-able materials, recycled items and wedding favors that keep on giving; however, you are torn about your decor options?!?

Have you ever considered going green?… Literally, with your wedding day decor!?!  If you haven’t, hopefully the photos below will help inspire and encourage you to consider using wheat grass as your main foliage for your wedding day!

There are many options with wheat grass… you can use it as a centerpiece, a place-card holder, a bed to serve hors d’oeuvre, etc…  The options are endless. Until you actually see wheat grass used in a wedding, you tend to under estimate its beautiful impact.

Whichever you decide, just have fun with it… those are the little subtle touches that will have your guests talking for years, especially if it something that means a lot to you and your new spouse and will help to identify who you are as a couple.

A Hint Of Mint Bar

signature wedding cocktails

While looking through some of the wedding inspiration that I’ve held onto over time, I ran across this lovely photo shoot at Green Wedding Shoes and could not get enough of the sweet, southern inspired Hint of Mint Bar.

To say that this photo shoot is cute is an understatement… it is absolutely gorgeous and oh so sweet.  The thought of having a Hint of Mint Bar at an outdoor southern wedding, on a cool spring day, is a perfect pairing!  In the words of the designer… Guests could create their own cocktail with their choice of bourbon + sweet tea (southern style) OR rum and peach nectar (cali style), then muddle some mint, and select their type of sugar + fruit.

Having signature drinks, especially with a themed wedding, ties everything together so well.  The menu specifically spelling out the drink and the ingredients, is a great way to keep your guests engaged as to why you chose those particular drinks.

No detail was forgotten with this wedding Hint of Mint Bar… the labeled juices and straws are adorable and the oatmeal whopping pies for desert are perfect!  I Love Southern Hospitality!

Veil-uminous!

Are you a bride who is not really attracted to the long, traditional voluminous veil?  Well, look no further! These beautiful, small, yet full of impact veils will turn heads just the same!

Small French Veils or Birdcage veils are a great option for brides that want a small veil.  They are more versatile than many think… you can wear them fully covering your face, or maybe just swooping over one eye.  There are many options…

Adding accessories to your net veil is another great option.  You can add feathers, jewels, flowers, etc…  The great thing about a small net veil is that it’s just subtle enough to be noticed.  Strange how that works, huh!?!

Milk And Cookies

When you hear the words milk and cookies, you instantly think of all things comforting, loving, and supportive.  Am I right? Milk and cookies are the ultimate comfort food … what you ate as a child when your grandparents wanted to give you a special treat or what young children leave out for Santa on Christmas Eve to show their gratitude. So, why not serve milk and cookies on your wedding day to remind you and all your guests of those good times growing up. This a wonderfully yummy way to thank your guests for attending your wedding!

I love the different ways milk and cookies can be served during a wedding.  They can be served passed with loose cookies and small glasses of milk.

Or on a milk and cookie bar, where you can incorporate several different types of cookies and flavors of milk for your guests to choose.

It is also a theme where you can incorporate all things vintage…

I absolutely adore this vintage styled photo shoot…

Photo Projection Tips

A video projection can be a great way to spice up your reception but there are a few things to keep in mind if you plan to show a photomontage at your reception.

The first thing to think about is your lighting situation. Will you be inside or out? Will you be able to dim the lights or not? If you cannot control the lights you will need a projector that has at least 3,000 lumens. Lumens basically measure the brightness of the projection the higher the number the brighter the picture and the better it will do in the light.

Another thing to think about is power. Make sure you have enough extension cords to get to the nearest power source sometimes you may have to go up to 50 feet to get to the nearest source.

Lastly, you want to make sure that you have enough cable to hook your laptop or dvd player into your sound system. Take a good look at what connectors you’ll need and get enough cable to go from one side of the room to other. You can never have enough cable.
