It’s always fun to add a little something extra to your escort cards. If that something extra can also double as a favor, that’s an even bigger plus! Today I have an easy tutorial for creating mini heart pins that can be attached to your escort cards. These would be a perfect addition to a rustic, Fall wedding.
Materials
Wool Felt (in your wedding colors)
Pinking Shears (or regular scissors)
Needle & Thread
Hot Glue Gun & Glue
Pin Backs
Step 1: Cut little squares of wool felt (2.5 – 3 in.). You’ll need two pieces for each heart. Once you have enough squares, layer two pieces together at a time and cut out a heart shape with the pinking shears.

Step 2: Keeping both hearts layered together, sew a running stitch along the edge. I chose a different color thread because I liked the handmade look of the stitches and wanted them to pop out. Stitch around the entire edge and stop with about half an inch to go.

Step 3: Add the stuffing through the half inch opening, filling up and puffing out the heart.

Step 4: Finish stitching the rest of the heart’s edge until it is closed up. Tie a knot to hold.

Step 5: Now, it’s time to add your pin back! If you have the time, feel free to sew the pin back on. However, my guess is that you don’t have the time… You’re planning a wedding and hand-making a favor for each guest! The quick and easy solution? Hot glue! See the images below for a simple and clean way to hot glue the pin back onto the heart.
Cut two tiny pieces of matching wool felt, one slightly larger. Hot glue the pin back onto the bigger piece. Then, hot glue the second, smaller piece over the base of the pin back to hold sturdy. Finally, glue the entire piece to the back of your felt heart.

Now your heart pins are stitched up and ready to go! You can offer them as individual favors for your guests or, you can pin them to tags with names and table numbers as your escort cards! The best part is that your guests can wear their favors during the wedding as an accessory that fits in perfectly with the event!
