If you love big, fun, chunky rings… you are going to totally love these Painted DIY Leather Flower Rings!! They are pretty easy to make and are a great way to add some flair to your fingers! Just follow the tutorial below…
Fabric Glue or Hot Glue Gun & Glue
Step 1: Circles – Determine the size flower you’d like to make and trace two circles in that size. I wanted my rings to be on the bigger side so I traced a circle that was 2 inches.
Step 2: Draw & Cut – Draw your flower on the back side of the leather circles, similar to a star burst shape, and cut them out. I drew one flower first, cut it out and traced it onto the next circle so they were the same. Also cut a small, thin strip of leather ( about 1.5 in long, 1/4 inch wide).
Step 3: Paint – Using acrylic or fabric paint, paint the front side of the leather in whatever color you prefer. If you’re using a light color on dark leather, it may help to paint a white base coat before adding color – I did this for my pink flower (see below) and it made the pink much brighter. For my white flower I just did two coats.
Step 4: Snip – Cut in about 1/4 inch to a 1/2 inch, depending on the size of your flower, between each of the flower petals. Do this for both pieces. Also make little, tiny snips in the small leather strip. To give the petals a little more body, I pinched the edge of each petal for a minute or two, giving the petals a curled look.
Step 5: Glue – Use a dab of glue in the center of one of your flowers and place the other on top, alternating where the petals fall. Pinch tightly until glue has set and the flower layers are held securely together.
Now, roll your small leather trip, as shown below. Place a dab of glue in the center of the top layer of your flower and press on the rolled leather trip. Hold down until glue has cooled and the piece is strongly attached.
Lastly, place a dab of hot glue on the flat surface of your ring back and firmly press it into the center of the bottom of your flower. Again, hold in place until secure.
And there you have it! A super cute leather flower ring! Wouldn’t these be sweet to make for your bridesmaids??
