Calling all die-hard DIY brides! If you love DIY projects and are planning a DIY wedding … this post may be for you. I love the idea of including handmade projects in your wedding day. It gives a nice personal touch and can often save you some serious cash.
Today I’d like to share some ideas, inspiration and how-tos for DIY wedding dresses! First off, I must simply state that anyone who takes on the task of making their own wedding dress deserves a MAJOR pat on the back. This is no small project! But if you are able to pull it off, it’s a great way to have a wedding dress that is totally unique, totally special, and completely YOU! Lets get to it …
The first DIY dress I’d like to show you is for brides on a very strict budget … Or brides who simply don’t wish to spend a lot of money on their wedding dress. This is a tutorial on how to make a $10 wedding dress. Yep – Ten Dollars! That was not a typo. This dress is made from T-shirts and would be perfect for a super casual wedding.
Here is another T-shirt wedding dress.
These next dresses are convertible dresses. The great thing about this dress is that you can change the look of the dress to fit your style and shape! They are also simple to make … with only a few seams.
Not getting the full effect? … Picture the convertible dress in White.
You could also make a short convertible wedding dress … or DIY bridesmaid dresses!
The next dress I have for you was actually made for a prom, but I thought it would make a lovely wedding dress!
Lisa Welge’s DIY wedding dress was inspired by fifties-style party dresses. This ambitious bride also made her bridesmaid dresses.
Here is another, yet less traditional, 1950’s inspired DIY wedding dress that I just love.
If you’ve made or are making your own wedding dress, please share! We love to hear about what our DIY brides are up to!
