Eclectic wedding details, none matching, all fit in perfectly to the secret garden theme of Kate and Robbie’s wedding… an event that was simply charming. From lovely floral design to DIY details, it is no surprise that this wedding was one of An Endless Pursuit‘s favorite whimsical weddings of the summer. The bride will fill you in on all the details below…
Kate: Both Robbie and I are avid readers, and so we loved the idea of pulling in a book to the theme of our wedding. We choose a childhood favorite, “The Secret Garden”, because it allowed us to create the atmosphere we wanted for our wedding. We used words like Victorian, eclectic, garden-feel, and personal to describe how we wanted both the ceremony and reception to feel.
Keeping with the Secret Garden theme, we used keys as a continuing theme- on our invitations (Love vs. Design printing-AMAZING.), as escort cards, and as decorations. We worked with Country Way Floral to create overgrown, garden-like floral arrangements and they were exquisite. No arrangement looked the same but each was lush, colorful. On the tables we used books, lanterns, teacups, floral arrangements, and other miscellaneous things- I didn’t want any table to look exactly the same. I remember saying to my mom, ‘I want it to feel like people went through their Grandmother’s attic to find the table decorations’.
Kate: We decorated the ceiling with lanterns, lights, and balloons to create an outdoor feel while being able to stay out of the 103-degree heat. Holly Vordenberg (Robbie’s aunt) made the cupcakes, 4 different kinds inspired by Robbie and I as well as the themes of the wedding, and we also had her create a small cake for us to cut during the reception. Our wedding was everything we wanted it to be – a whimsical, garden-themed wedding and reception that was a perfect start to a new life together.
Congratulations Kate and Robbie!
