Sweetgrass Social Events recently shared this sweet “Meant to Bee” wedding with us.  The wedding took place in historic downtown Charleston.  Michele, the bride, shares details about the wedding plans along with photos by Red Shutter Studio.

Michele: I’m a graphic designer so I designed and constructed the invitations myself. I got to incorporate the honeybee illustration in everything to carry across the “meant to bee” theme. I drew the honeycomb pattern used in the invitation and then I had fabric printed by spoonflower.com with the same pattern which my grandmother sewed into pillows for the lounge area and coverings for the cocktail tables. Also, we sourced out vintage stamps that were meaningful to us, a navy stamp because my husband works at the naval weapons station, a South Carolina stamp and seashells.

I loved my something old which was a broach given to my grandmother which was pinned to my garter as well as the vintage honey tins that we collected from all over and used as vases for the cocktail table flowers. My husband (a beer fanatic) picked out his boutonnieres and included dried hops.

We tried to make the day unique to us. Instead of doing the typical cocktail hour jazz music we made a compilation of our favorite nostalgic 90’s songs which definitely got people enjoying themselves. We also had a line on the RSVP cards for people to write in a song to be played at the reception. People loved when their song came up and it made for some really funny dancing moments.
