Last week I announced that I recently got engaged and am now planning my own wedding! So I’ll be taking you along on my wedding adventures right here on WedLoft.
First things first. The Ring. Long before Mr B. actually proposed, we talked about what kind of ring I’d want. At that point we had been dating for over five years and living together for 3 of those years. We knew our relationship was the real deal early on but didn’t feel the need to rush into getting married.
So, let’s flash back a year… One day, Mr. B. approached me on the subject of the ring. He stated VERY clearly that he wanted to surprise me in terms of the proposal, but he also knew I didn’t want a traditional ring… That part made him a little nervous. While surprise was a must, he did want to make sure that I would be happy with my engagement ring.
Of course, I was happy to play along. I poked around online, mostly in Etsy shops, and showed him a number of different rings (all handmade) that I loved. Pearls are my favorite so each ring was either a single pearl or had a pearl as the main stone. I also let him know that whatever he chose would stay near and dear to my heart but if I had three engagement ring wishes, they would be these…
1 – A Pearl
2 – Handmade
3 – Conflict Free
To my delight, the ring that eventually ended up on my finger was everything on my wish list. It even had an added bonus! It’s made with recycled materials.
It is a ring from a fabulous Etsy jewelry designer, Jill at Artifactum. My ring is a beautiful, freshwater pearl with uncut, conflict free diamonds on either side. The ring is made of recycled palladium sterling with bezel settings and a hammered band. It’s the perfect style, perfect fit and I love it to pieces. Well done, Mr. B.
