I’m a huge fan of mix & matched bridesmaid dresses.  In any group of ladies comes different shapes, sizes and personal styles.  It can be quite hard to choose a single dress for your best gals that will fit right and look good on everyone… and you want your girls to feel comfortable and happy on your wedding day.  That way the focus can be on celebrating you and your marriage rather than on their discomfort  in their bridesmaid dress.

That being said, I totally get that most brides still want a cohesive look to their bridal party.  Well, don’t stress!  A consistent overall look is totally achievable while still giving your ladies the freedom of comfort and style.

Personally, I think the easiest way to style a fabulous mix and matched bridal party is to start by choosing the color.  One color.  Maybe even show your maids some examples of what you’re picturing.  From there, they can choose their own dresses to fit your vision.  While the dresses will all be in the same color range, there will most likely be different shades and tones… but that, my friends, is my favorite part.  I think it looks lovely!

Here are a few examples of bridal parties that have pulled off the monochromatic mix-and-match with ultimate success…
