It is always an honor for me when another wedding vendor likes our work so much that they want us, Kio Kreations, to be their wedding florist… and that was exactly the case for Kim & Drew’s wedding. The bride, Kim Piech, is a Chicago-area make up artist who specializes in making brides look perfect on their big day. I met her about a year ago while doing a mutual client of our’s wedding downtown. She loved the bouquets I was dropping off so much that she basically knew then that she wanted to work with me for her wedding. I am so glad she picked us because it was a total pleasure doing her modern chic wedding which just happened to be in the same suburb we are located in! I was also pleased that Kim and Drew picked Wes Craft to be their photographer — I love working with him as well and the photos really captured the joy and beauty of the day.
Kim and Drew’s event was a bright, modern chic wedding with a ceremony at a local church and reception at Northern Illinois University’s Naperville Campus. Their colors included bright magenta, yellow, orange and purple set against neutral charcoal gray and black attire and linens. The ceremony setting was traditional and timeless and the reception venue was chic and modern…
In addition to taking photos at the venues, the perfect weather also allowed for taking photos at the local Naperville Riverwalk, one of the most picturesque locations around!
Kim was one of the most beautiful brides I’ve ever seen! Her hair and makeup was flawless, and I expected nothing less!
The personal flowers we designed for the event included a stunning bridal bouquet of white roses, white cymbidium orchids, purple vanda orchids, fuchsia mokara orchids, and magenta spray roses. The bridesmaids carried bold, bright bouquets of roses, dendrobium orchids, spray roses, mokara orchids, stock, billy balls, and lisianthus. They really popped against their awesome gray dresses. Boutonnieres and corsages consisted of orchids, roses and spray roses. The bridesmaids and flower girl even wore orchids in their hair.
The centerpieces at the reception along with the lighting, lanterns, linens and chairs really set the stage for a chic, modern affair. We did a bunch of submerged-style arrangements with bold orchids, wire accents and floating candles juxtaposed by mini mixed arrangements of roses, spray roses, lisianthus, stock, orchids and billy balls. They all looked awesome and Kim and Drew were so happy with every last detail!
One of my favorite things about the wedding was the food! They served deep dish pizza (a local Chicago classic) instead of blah traditional wedding food. What a cool way to bring a piece of Chicago to all of the guests–literally!
