Again we have beautiful photos from Dreamlove Photography to share with you.  A long-term romance resulted in Colleen and Mark’s gorgeous wedding event!  Their reception is perfect inspiration for anyone going with the 2014 color of the year for their wedding with lighting, details and decor in radiant orchid…

Colleen: When Mark proposed to me, our families apparently thought it was a long time coming. Mark and I grew up down the street from one another , and we went on our first date in middle school. During our college years we started to realize that this was more than just puppy-love and we both wanted in for the long run. So 5 years after we had made the relationship “Facebook official” (a truly important moment in the life of an 18 year old), Mark popped the question and the wedding planning journey began!

At first, Mark and I were overwhelmed by the endless options for what our wedding could be and by the steady flow of opinions recommending what our wedding should be. So much to see on Pinterest! Do we go rustic chic or elegant modern? Bridesmaids love the lilies, but our mothers think roses are always best. It wasn’t long, though, until Mark and I remembered what the wedding was all about: the two of us getting happily married. As long as we ended up married and could celebrate with our friends and family then nothing could really be bad about our wedding.

That simple notion alleviated all the wedding-planning stress, and everything started to fall into place. Mark and I fell in love with one of the very first venues we went to see, the New Haven Lawn Club. I picked a fabric, and the bridesmaids each picked their own dress style. I narrowed in on a couple simple decorative ideas that would really finish off the room without taking ages to orchestrate: mercury glass and candles galore. I sent my florist a few images of bouquets and arrangements that I liked and told her that anything along those lines would be perfect. And come the day of, everything came together exactly as Mark and I had hoped. The whole day, from the ceremony to the after-party, was a rush of excitement. Seeing everything – the cake, the flowers, the lighting – was great, but being able to savor every moment with Mark is really what made our wedding day perfect for me.
