Today we have a bright and sunny wedding from Emily of Emily Takes Photos. Stephanie and Peter’s wedding was exactly what they had imagined … a big fun dance party but also an intimate celebration of who they are as a result of the love that surrounds them.
The couple decided to have a wedding that mirrored Stephanie’s parents’ thirty years ago. They were married in the same church and held the reception at her grandparents home in California.
Because both Stephanie and Peter are complete travel nuts, they decided that a travel theme was more than fitting for the occasion. The tables were named with cities and countries they had lived in, visited or had on their wish list. The names were displayed by post cards (also used for the guestbook) ordered from Zazzle and escort cards were pinned to a map. The couple had a traditional wedding cake along with a birthday cake for all of the guests who were sharing their birthday weekend and cookies inspired by different countries.
I love the birthday cake for the guests. What a great way to embrace your loved ones and thank them for sharing the day!
Stephanie: “My favorite colors are pink and yellow. I don’t necessarily like them together, but my florist, Sarah Pink of Pink Petals combined the colors together beautifully and worked tirelessly at finding just the right milk glass vases to arrange the flowers against the yellow linens I chose. The bright pink bridesmaid dresses were a steal at Macy’s (even if we did have to call around the country to get all 5 of them) and I just had to have matching pink socks for the groomsmen. Oh, and yes, I had my ‘something blue’ shoes well before the dress, and I’d like to think they inspired my overall style. Being that we live in Canada and Pete works for a hockey team, we jazzed up some hockey pucks with our engagement photos that we made into stickers from Zazzle and used them as favors. We had signature drinks at the bar (Canadian Club and Cosmos) as well as Canadian beer and wine from a vineyard in Italy with our same family name. I must admit it was pretty cool to have our last name as wine labels.”
Congratulations Stephanie and Peter!!
