We are in love with this rustic barn wedding in Canada!  Katie and Ryan planned a cozy wedding day surrounded by personalized details, friends and family.  Megan from Family Creative Imagery photographed this lovely event and is here to fill you in on all the special details…

Rustic Barn Wedding

Megan: Both Katie and Ryan spend a lot of time in the Muskoka cottage country area, and have their whole lives, so it was totally fitting location for them. They wanted to have the ceremony out on the lawn, but the weather wasn’t cooperating, so they moved it into the barn, which was still totally rustic and gorgeous.

After the ceremony, they cleared out the chairs and family and friends had beers served out of a canoe and wrapped in their custom beer cozies. Their guest book was two beautiful canoe paddles, which you know will be going on a wall somewhere in their house.

Something really special about the rings is that Katie’s grandfather was a Jeweler by trade, and the last thing he ever designed before he died was Ryan & Katie’s wedding bands. And attached on Katie’s bouquet, she had rings that her grandparent’s rings, and her parent’s rings.

The landscape was so gorgeous for the photo session, and quite diverse in a very small area. A lake, a buckwheat field, and an old sugar shake in the woods – all made for beautiful backdrops for their photos.

Katie and Ryan had the best newlywed reception entrance I’ve ever seen; they got up on the head table and line danced for everyone!! After a bunch of speeches, This Little Piggy catering served up an actual pig that was roasted that day. Something I’ve never seen before at a wedding.

Their cake was made by Katie’s brother’s girlfriend, and included mini “Muskoka Chair” cake toppers. All of the decor; the seating chart, the centerpiece numbers, etc. were all made by Katie & Ryan. I also love that they opted for ferns instead of lots of florals. Not only is it easy on the budget, but it looked SO good!!

The night ended with a boot stompin’ party in the barn, a food truck midnight snack, and a shuttle bus that took everyone at the party back to their hotels in town.
