Warm weather is here and pops of color are everywhere!
If you are looking for an engagement ring with that pop of color or you are dreaming of the perfect spring themed wedding, then you need to know about the cabochon cut. They are a tad more muted but very rich in color, a sophisticated choice and classically modern. Making it one of my favorites.
What the cabochon cut lacks in bling, it makes up for in color. You are getting the purest color, and that’s what makes it special. I call it juicy.
Cabochon Ring by Claudia Endler Designs
Cabochon cut rings usually have an oval or pear shape; sugarloaf shapes are highly desirable and highly rare. The surface is smooth and facet-less – that’s why there’s no sparkle. However lack of sparkle lets the color be the star.
One usually sees the cabochon cut in softer gemstones that would easily be scratched or damaged in the process of creating facets. However, harder stones like rubies, sapphires and jade show off their colors. The cut works beautifully with tiger’s eye, turquoise, emerald, opals, opaque and clear stones. Cabochon cut gemstones highlight the unique effects of asteriated stone, or star effects and chatoyant stones, cat’s eye, could be other cabochon cut perks.
You don’t need sparkle to create that sparkle in someone’s eye as they admire your unique cabochon cut ring!
