It’s Vendor We Heart time!! Today I have Katie Wachowiak, floral designer at Reinhardt Blooms, here to tell you about the fabulous floral service she offers for weddings! Providing farm-fresh flowers for couples and custom design work has made Reinhardt Blooms a hit with Michigan couples.
As a family run farm, the folks at Reinhardt Blooms are passionate about their land how their flowers are used to make a beautiful difference in such important and memorable events such as weddings. Meet Katie below and get the full scoop on this wonderful wedding vendor!
What inspired you to start your business?
This business began with the sole desire to make our centennial farm a working farm again. Established in 1880, the land and history it holds are precious to my family. Growing flowers became a successful niche. The floral studio came later, but it was driven by requests from brides wanting the lush, seasonally natural arrangements we design.
What options for customization do you offer?
I don’t offer packages, the service I offer is more of a design collaboration. No two weddings are ever the same. Knowing the tastes and styles of the couple I am designing for is very important in my work.
Is there a particular niche you target?
Designers whose work I admire all source local product for the unique look it brings to design work. I am incredibly blessed to have that ‘source’ literally right outside my door.
If you could give one tip to couples who are planning a wedding, what would it be?
Not to overstate their theme. I love to look at vintage photos of weddings and see the timeless comfort the flowers hold. Still the same, unchanged by time. An abundance of things meant to convey a couples theme can be avoided by selecting the venue, flowers, and table settings that will ultimately be timeless.
What is your one must-have item/product/tool to have on-hand when you’re working? Gempler’s gardening gloves, wide brimmed hat, with vintage scarf to tie and keep it from blowing away, and a sharp pair of clippers.
On your day off you can be found…
During summer months, there are no days off. Outings yes, but flowers are harvested seven days a week here. They simply won’t wait! Yesterday brought some much needed rain which was a chance to slip away to the beach and collect clam shells for an upcoming project.
5 Things that make you happy?
The multitude of animals that surround me
Anything made in the USA
A good hair day
What is your personal favorite color used in weddings?
I prefer a pastel wedding palette. Bold and bright are fun but because I am partial to the timeless elegance subdued tones bring I think whites and lights are most appropriate.
