This week’s Vendor We Heart is Stephanie Selle from With These Rings. Based in Seattle, Washington, With These Rings is an amazing workshop that guides couples through the process of making their own wedding rings.
How cool is that?? We are big fans of handmade items, unique design and personal touches here at Wedding Window. So, of course, when we learned of Stephanie’s service we immediately fell in love. It is such a special experience that couples can share, put their love into and remember every time they look at their wedding rings.
Meet Stephanie and learn more about With These Rings below. And be sure to check out her video about the process!
What inspired you to start your business?
I am a jeweler, so when my husband and I were engaged planning our wedding rings was a big deal to me. I wanted them to be timeless but not boring, I wanted them to be rich with meaning while keeping the design simple. That’s a lot to ask of a tiny ring. My husband suggested that I teach him some basic skills and that we make each other’s rings. It was the perfect solution! Our rings are more meaningful then any design that I could have come up with, because of the love and effort that went into making them. I realized what a special experience this was and wanted to share it with other couples. From there it quickly grew into a business.
What options for customization do you offer?
Each couple designs their own rings, so every set made at With these Rings are totally custom. We have done things from carving interlocking rings to casting a set of rings from one couple’s grandparents silverware.
If you could give one tip to couples who are planning a wedding, what would it be?
The details are fun, but can also get stressful. If you find yourself getting too hung up on one particular detail, let it go. Your wedding day is going to be overwhelmingly amazing, it’s the day that you are marrying your best friend, you wont even be thinking about the details.
Is there a particular niche you target?
Making your own wedding rings isn’t a project that many couples are interested in taking on. But the couples that choose to work with me usually say that they had no idea that this was an option, but once they heard about my business they knew they had to do it. I think that all of these couples have an appreciation for objects that are made by hand and want to incorporate the sentimental value that this personal experience can bring to their bands.
What is something that most people don’t know about your biz/you?
Many people have no idea that With these Rings is just me! I personally work with every couple from their first email through completing their wedding ring making workshop. I absolutely love the personal connections that I make through this process, I have met some really wonderful people!
What is your one must-have item/product/tool to have on-hand when you’re working?
There are definitely a lot of tools in my studio that are necessary for making rings from jewelers saws to torches. But my one must have tool would be my finger gauge, this is a tool that measures your ring size. Getting an accurate ring size is actually trickery than you would think since your fingers swell and shrink through out the day depending on what you ate, if you are hot or cold, or a number of other factors. So I always like to get peoples measurements a couple of times so I can figure out the best size to go with.
What is your personal favorite color used in weddings?
Seafoam and mint green are my all time favorite colors and I love that they have been so popular in weddings this past year.
Wedding Cake, cupcakes, or a candy/cookie bar? Which is your personal fave?
We had all of the above at our reception, plus mini pies! I also love the idea of doing milk and cookies at the end of the night.
On your day off you can be found..
I love spending my days off with my husband and our dogs, we love exploring Washington from the mountains to the coast or just hanging around Seattle and BBQing with our friends … or being totally lazy and marathoning through our favorite shows on Netflix.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I am going to be launching a giveaway contest in January on my facebook page, stay tuned for details!
