What inspired you to start your business?
I have always been a collector of vintage since a young age but I didn’t think to parlay it into a business until I had my own wedding. I couldn’t find any rentals that really reflected myself and my husband’s style. I got married at my parent’s house so it was a blank slate and I wanted the rustic/vintage details that would make our day special. I set out to collect, and an expensive and exhausting year later I had everything I needed! I wanted to bring these kinds of details and personal touches to other women without them having to drag their hubbies through endless antique stores and at a much more affordable, rental price point.
What options for customization do you offer?
Everything is customizable! Reusing amazing vintage pieces is always a new experience for me. I love showing brides new ways to use old things.
I also offer different packages. My favorite thing to do is be involved with the styling of weddings. I work with brides to style some or all of their weddings and receptions. This means working with them and their other vendors to outline every aesthetic aspect of their big day.
If you could give one tip to couples who are planning a wedding, what would it be?
I deal with a lot of brides who are getting married in what we used to consider “non-traditional” locations. Like childhood homes, camps or private estates. These places are amazing and really reflect the couple. My one piece of advice when doing this is have someone who will help you manage all the vendors and the big day. Since it is a total blank slate you will be calling in everything and a professional will really make the day feel special instead of chaotic. The devil is in the details, especially when it comes to reflecting who you are at your wedding!
What is something that most people don’t know about your biz/you?
Most people don’t know the extent of my collection and how much time I spend collecting! It is a true labor of love and every time someone comes to my showroom they are amazed at the possibilities. I guess that means I need to spruce up the ol’ website!
What is your one must-have tool to have on-hand when you’re working?
Spell Check! I love vintage everything, but let me tell you, technology (especially spell check) is a life saver!
If you had to choose one word to describe yourself/your business what would it be?
5 Things that make you happy?
1) My mom, dad, sister, brother, hubby, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and 5 siblings-in-law! (can that count as one? -ha!)
3) Collecting, or as my husband calls it, hoarding
4) My fluffy pomeranian
5) Meeting new people
