Traditional Wedding Rings
As tradition goes, when the man proposes, he gives the woman a single band ring, usually with a rather large solitaire diamond in the center. When the couple gets married, the groom puts that single band engagement ring along with another band (called the wedding band) on the brides ring finger closest to her heart. Some traditions even go as far as adding a second band (called an eternity band) on the couples 10th wedding anniversary or on the birth of their first child.
What Happened to the Wedding Band?
With such a beautiful and meaningful history…what happened to the wedding band? These days, more and more couples don’t have wedding bands, not to mention the eternity band!?! I’m not one who is big on tradition, but that just seems like one that would have stuck around. Are there many brides out there who are still following the wedding and eternity band traditions?
