While your vows should be set in stone, your gems don’t necessarily have to be. Etienne Perret developed a new technique to set gemstones with zirconia ceramic which he terms “Ceramique”. While zirconia ceramic wedding rings might not sound as exorbitant as other metals, Perret’s designs can cost anywhere from hundreds of dollars to thousands; it depends on how custom you’d like the ring to be. While the material itself is very lightweight (with the same volume of gold), and comfortable to wear, zirconia ceramic is as hard as sapphire, scratch and shatter resistant. It is possible to engrave, etch or add new stones to the pieces. Despite this flexibility, it is difficult to resize the actual ring. We have seen others but like the way Perret also incorporates white diamonds, colored diamonds, gold and platinum designs in his Ceramique collections. Perret’s designs would also be perfect for a European wedding theme or for a bride that has an affinity for European designs due to his Swiss roots and German role models, like designer Friedrich Becker.

Add sparkle while maintaining comfort, simple maintenance, personal accents, affordability and durability. If you’re a more superstitious bride that links the durability of the ring to the durability of your marriage (why do you think they say diamonds last forever?), check out Etienne Perret testing this with his zirconia ceramic pieces here.
