Danny and Teri’s site is our featured WeddingWindow.com wedding website of the week. They took advantage of many of the great customizable options available to them to get the most out of their website — very creative use of custom imagery! Very personalized site! Congratulations Danny and Teri!
WeddingWindow.com Website Design: “Serendipity”
1. How has your website been most helpful in planning your wedding?
Our friends and family live throughout the country, so our website was a nice central place for people to get information. We got married on a holiday weekend and had multiple events, so it was great to be able to put details about each day and event that would not fit on formal invitations. The site was also nice for suggesting accommodation/group-rate information for out of town guests and providing gift registry information.
To encourage guests to keep going back, after pre-wedding events like our engagement party and bridal shower, we created albums and uploaded photos from each event. In our thank you cards, we added a note that “photos from the event are up” on the site. People always love looking at photos!
2. How did you customize your website?
We pretty much customized the entire thing. Instead of choosing one of the pre-created backgrounds, we created .jpeg images using our photos and wedding logo to upload to the site. We mixed up most of the colors and just had a lot of fun making the website match our wedding’s look and feel. We were very selective about the tabs we chose and didn’t want to overwhelm visitors with too much information. We also rotated various songs throughout our engagement and used photos on almost every page. We also found quotes that pertained to each section – family, friends, love – and used those as “headers” on each section.
3. Did you customize other elements of your wedding as well? If so, what were they?
Our wedding was all about customizing! It was a labor of love and included a lot of DIY projects. We worked with a designer to customize our Save the Date cards and Invitations and spent hours wrapping cardboard boxes in various fabrics as our wedding favor boxes filled with special sugar cookies in the shape of French Bulldogs (representing our two dogs)! We wanted our ceremony as personal as possible so we asked a close friend to marry us. Other customized elements included luminary candle bags with lace doilies, glass jars for candles hanging from the trees, a homemade wedding cake (made by mom), a dessert buffet instead of simply a wedding cake and an after-party complete with electronica music and glow sticks!
4. What was your favorite website feature?
We enjoyed the guestbook feature and being able to put our own music selections on the site. Although we didn’t use the password protected areas for our Wedding Party, we thought that was a fun and convenient feature. We also liked having the vendors tab – our vendors were all great and it was nice to be able to support them and subtly promote their services.
